Consumer Council released its latest 'Supermarket Price Survey Report' and specific price survey report on canned foods. In comparison with last month's data, the latest 'Supermarket Price Survey Report' shows price increase in almost half of the total 252 products surveyed; the specific price survey report on canned foods also shows obvious price increase in 'Narcissus Brand Spiced Pork Cubes (142g)'. The current 'Supermarket Price Survey Report' was conducted on 17th August, surveying over 250 product samples from 14 retail spots. In comparison with last month's figures, among the surveyed product samples, 120 samples recorded increase in prices and 63 items remained unchanged. Obvious increases in average price were observed in cooking oil and canned food products: half of the 21 surveyed cooking oil products recorded price increase of less than 1% to over 10%. For canned foods, both 'Supermarket Price Survey Report' and the specific price survey report on canned foods reflect price increases in most brands. Average prices of 'Campbells' Cream of Chicken (305g)' and 'Narcissus Brand Spiced Pork Cubes (142g)' have increased by over 18% and 25% respectively. 'Narcissus Brand Spiced Pork Cubes (142g)' also recorded obvious price increases from 13% to 40% in different retail spots in the specific price survey report. Further, price difference of 'Porthos Sardines in Olive Oil (125g)' selling in different outlets amounted to over 53%.
