Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the population of Macao was estimated at 558,100 as at 30 June 2011, an increase of 1,300 from end-March. There were 1,353 live births in the second quarter of 2011, up by 6.2% quarter-to-quarter. Gender ratio of the newborn was 102.8, with 686 male babies. Number of mortality cases totalled 403, down by 21.6% quarter-to-quarter; major underlying causes of death were Neoplasms and Diseases of the Circulatory System. A total of 911 cases of Notifiable diseases were reported in this quarter, consisting mainly of Enterovirus Infection (590 cases), Tuberculosis of lung (80 cases) and Chickenpox (62 cases). In addition, 779 cases of marriage registration were recorded, down by 10.8% over the first quarter of 2011. In the second quarter of 2011, there were 1,534 Chinese immigrants with One-way Exit Permit moving to Macao, a decrease of 547 quarter-to-quarter; meanwhile, 325 illegal immigrants were repatriated. Moreover, a total of 621 individuals were authorized to reside in Macao, down by 83 quarter-to-quarter. Total number of non-resident workers stood at 85,273 at the end of the second quarter, up by 3,857 quarter-to-quarter.
