Macau Hosts Exclusive Dinner During Luckyrice Festival Two chefs from Macau to prepare dinner at James Beard House

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) participated in the Luckyrice Food Festival with an exclusive dinner at the James Beard House on May 5, 2011, in New York City. Representatives of MGTO in the USA and organizers of the Luckyrice festival attracted over 1,300 festival guests to taste Macau's unique cuisine. Cuisine is one of the best channels to open lines of communication among people. In the past, MGTO has participated in food festivals around the globe. But this is the first time ever that we do a culinary event in New York with chefs from Macau. New York is considered one of the world's capital of food, fashion, finance and culture, so it is important for MGTO to participate in this event and introduce Americans to authentic Macanese cuisine. MGTO-USA has joined forces with Macau's Institute of Tourism Studies (IFT) and have brought Chef David Wong and Chef Iong Keong Tong to NY for the events. The chefs prepared the five-course dinner at James Beard House and also participate at two additional Luckyrice events: The Grand Feast and Talk+Taste. The chefs have showcase Macanese cuisine to an American audience and enticed them to join the increasing number of Americans heading to Macau every year. In 2010, 188,254 Americans visited Macau, up 4.9% from the previous year (179,500). Since the opening of a Macanese restaurant in 2009, New Yorkers have become increasingly curious about Macanese cuisine. Bringing authentic chefs to prepare some of Macau's most famous dishes at this event will showcase Macau's culinary history and offerings to New Yorkers, giving them more reasons to visit Macau. The second event where Macanese food showcased was on May 6th. The chefs prepared Macanese cuisine for 1,000 culinary enthusiasts at the Grand Feast. The Grand Feast brought together the best of Asian cuisine, with an acclaimed line-up of master chefs from Asia as well as those from the Luckyrice culinary council. Chef David and Chef Keong were side by side with New York's most beloved chefs and star chefs from Asian culinary hotspots. On May 8th, the chefs have a tasting table during the Talk+Taste event, serving a special Macanese dish to 300 food enthusiasts. This event features cooking demonstrations by masters of Asian cuisine as they prepared regional specialties. The event was hosted by Ching-He Huang, the charismatic host of Cooking Channel's most watched show, "Chinese Food Made Easy." Today's Macau's cuisine is enticing travelers from around the world to come and experience its unique flavors. Add this to the cultural and historical sites to be seen and you have a great vacation experience. About Luckyrice
