As of 12:00 noon today (August 25th), in the aftermath of typhoon "Hato", the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 12 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to the cancellation of their return flights. The current status is as follows:
• In Bangkok: a tour group of 18 people plus 22 FIT tourists, four of which were able to board a flight to Hong Kong this morning, while thirty six people remain stranded;
• In Danang: 50 people from 2 tour groups are currently stranded;
• In Fukuoka: a tour group of 36 people has been able to return to Macau via South Korea;
• In Kaohsiung: 6 FIT tourists, one of them managed to purchase a ticket and return to Macao, while 5 are still stranded.
GGCT is in close contact with the airlines and travel agencies, urging the tourism industry to adequately coordinate the necessary arrangements for the stranded passengers so as to allow them to return as soon as possible.
