Update of requests for assistance received from tourists


In the aftermath of typhoon "Hato", as of 12:00 noon today (August 26th), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 19 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to return flights cancellation. Out of the 130 residents involved, 106 have already returned while the remaining 24 are scheduled to return today and on the 28th. The details are as follows:

• In Bangkok: the updated number of people stranded is 38, 29 of which have returned yesterday to Macao and via Shenzhen. Of the 9 people still in Bangkok, 6 will return this evening to Hong Kong while the remaining 3 will return to Macao on the 28 of August;

• In Danang: out of 50 people belonging to 2 tour groups, 35 departed to Macao this morning and the remaining 15 will return tonight;

• In Fukuoka: a tour group of 36 people returned yesterday to Macau via South Korea;

• In Kaohsiung: all 6 FIT tourists returned to Macao last night.

Through efforts by the Fire Services Bureau and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, GGCT contacted the family of the Mainland tourist killed in the traffic accident during the typhoon and will follow the wishes of the family and provide adequate assistance.

The GGCT will continue to monitor the situation of the Macao residents stranded overseas.
