Update of requests for assistance received from tourists affected by the typhoons


As of 15:00 today (August 27th), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 20 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to return flight cancellations caused by the "Hato" and “Pakhar” typhoons. Out of the 141 residents involved, 112 have already returned while 29 will return this afternoon and tomorrow. The details are as follows:

•In Bangkok: 1 new request received involving 11 people stranded after their Air Macau return flight was delayed due to typhoon “Pakhar”. They will be on a return flight to Macao this afternoon. Out of the total of 49 people stranded, 6 returned yesterday making it a total of 35 people who have already returned to Macao while of the remaining 14 stranded, 11 will be returning this afternoon and 3 more on 28 of August;

•In Danang: out of 50 people from 2 tour groups, 35 have returned and 15 had their flight delayed last night due to typhoon “Pakhar” and will now return in the early hours of the 28th of August;

•In Fukuoka: 36 people, all of which have returned to Macao;

•In Kaohsiung: 6 people, all of which have also returned to Macao.

In addition, the GGCT received information that a group of around 150 Mainland tourists flying from Macao to Palau were stranded at the Macao International Airport due to aircraft mechanical issues. After coordination with the Macao Civil Aviation Authority and the Administration of Airports Ltd., it is now reported that repair works have been completed and that the flight scheduled for departure this afternoon.

The GGCT will continue to monitor the situation of the Macao residents stranded overseas.
