Chief Executive sends condolences to Singapore


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today has sent a message of condolence to Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong over the passing of the country’s former Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Mr Chui expressed his profound condolences at the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and extended condolences to Mr Lee’s family on behalf of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and in his own personal capacity. Widely respected as the “founding father”, Mr Lee had led Singapore to become one of the richest countries in the world, Mr Chui said. The late Mr Lee was also an old friend of China and one of the most influential politicians and strategists in Asia and the world. Mr Chu had met Mr Lee in official visits to Singapore. He said the Government had always placed great importance on pressing ahead on co-operation with the country and has learned a lot from Mr Lee. He said he noted the contributions Mr Lee made to broaden Singapore-Macao co-operation in every aspect, and such co-operation continue. Mr Lee’s excellent leadership, political vision and pioneering spirit will be always respected and remembered, he said.
