CE to attend cooperation conference in Shenzhen

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will lead an official delegation to Shenzhen from 2 to 3 December, to attend the Shenzhen-Macao Cooperation Conference 2015. At the Conference, the two cities will review the progress and achievements of cooperation projects initiated this year and will explore the opportunities for further partnership next year. Officials from Macao and Shenzhen will also endorse two memoranda during the two-day Conference. They are a memorandum of understanding on promoting development of “Dawan area”, a coastal hub for logistics that serves Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao; and a memorandum on tourism cooperation. The relationship between Macao and Shenzhen is considered an important part of regional integration efforts under the Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), an economic and trade agreement between the separate customs territories of the mainland and Macao. During his stay, the Chief Executive will meet with municipal leaders of Shenzhen to exchange views on how to strengthen ties between the two cities. Officials accompanying Mr Chui to Shenzhen include the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac; the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms O Lam; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Mr Chan Chi Ping; the President of Administration Council of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Mr Vong Iao Lek; and the Director of the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, Mr Fung Sio Weng. While Mr Chui is away, the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
