With regard to the media inquiry about the letter addressed to the President of the Legislative Assembly by the wife of the CCAC worker who died after throwing himself off a building on 15th October, the CCAC states that according with the findings of the criminal police in their preliminary investigation, the case was considered a suicide. Following this tragedy, the CCAC, along with the assistance of the bereaved family in burial arrangements, has also provided the necessary psychological counselling for its staff. Without prejudice to the criminal investigation, the Commissioner Against Corruption issued an order, under the Organic Law of the Commission Against Corruption of the Macao Special Administrative Region, to create a task force to conduct an internal investigation into the incident. The investigation report was then completed and submitted by the Commissioner Against Corruption to the Chief Executive on 6th November. Furthermore, copies of the report were also sent to the Monitoring Committee for the Discipline of the CCAC Personnel and to the deceased’s family. The CCAC received last week the referred letter, through the Office of the Chief Executive, and will formally answer all the questions raised in it about the internal investigation report.
