Autumn activities of Communications Museum


“Science is Fun” Research Project - Sound of the Bamboo Theatre is jointly organized by the Communications Museum and the Macau Society of Biomedical Engineering. The science activity is aimed at arousing students’ interest in science and discovering their potentials in doing independent research projects, and ultimately enhancing their thinking ability, creativity and execution techniques. It is also aimed to promote the research, knowledge and spirit of science among the public. This year, the measurement of sound volume will be done during the Chinese opera performance. Ten groups of students from five schools including Mateus Ricci College, Pui Ching Middle School, Ching Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Santa Rosa de Lima College – Chinese Section and Sacred Heart Canossian College were invited. Research reports of students were highly appreciated by the judges and they can be viewed on the museum’s web. During the Stamp Festival of this year, the “Festive Stamps” Special Exhibition will be held from 9 October 2015 to 10 January 2016. Stamps about over ten Chinese and Western festivals will be shown in the Temporary Exhibition Gallery on the ground floor of the museum. There will also be a series of fun and interactive activities. Through the stamps, visitors can view the important festival throughout the year and recall the happy moment they had with their families and friends on these special dates! Schools and organizations are welcomed to book the guided visits of this special exhibition. Visitors can join the “Chocolate Guessing Game” available in the exhibition. The participant that can guess the correct quantity of Easter chocolate eggs in the big transparent Easter egg container will be given souvenirs. Besides, a “Halloween Night at the Museum” will be held from 7:00pm to 10:00pm on 31 October. Family or friends group participants are invited to dress up in their unique Halloween style to attend the Halloween party. The fun activities include Pumpkin Light” workshop, “Halloween Treats Making” and “Treasure Hunt”. Registration is open from now till 22 October at the Museum’s reception counter. MOP100 will be charged to every group of 2 persons, maximum 15 groups. First come first served. The “Mid-Autumn Lantern” and “Halloween Pumpkin” workshops that are part of the “LED festival” program of International Year of Light will be held in the afternoon of 26 October and 31 October respectively. Students of Form 1 or above are welcomed to join through registration at the museum’s website. They will learn the basic principles of LED and make a special festive lamp stand in the workshop. Same as last year, the Draw My Story of Stamps Contest of this year also has no specific theme. We hope to encourage and discover more artists to participate in cultural creative arts and design through stamps. Participants are welcomed to draw a picture by developing on the selected “Macao China” stamp or souvenir sheet. They can participate in the Primary Student, Secondary Student or General Category. The General Category has no age limit. Submission of works starts from now till 5:30pm on 5 December 2015 (Saturday).
