Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Total Receipts of the industrial establishments in Macao increased by 15.2% year-on-year to MOP10.91 billion in 2014, of which Value of Production amounted to MOP10.80 billion. Intermediate Consumption totalled MOP6.73 billion, up by 16.9%. Gross Surplus, which equals Total Receipts less Intermediate Consumption and Compensation of Employees (MOP2.04 billion), grew by 14.0% to MOP2.14 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy amounted to MOP4.18 billion, up by 12.6%. A total of 864 establishments were operating in industrial production in 2014, a decrease of 52 year-on-year (with 32 in Manufacture of Wearing Apparel); total number of persons engaged dropped by 461 to 12,526. Total Receipts of the Manufacturing sector increased by 14.8% year-on-year to MOP7.80 billion; Intermediate Consumption (MOP5.87 billion) rose by 16.0%; Gross Surplus (MOP590 million) and Gross Value Added (MOP1.94 billion) increased by 22.1% and 11.1% respectively. Establishments in the Manufacturing sector decreased by 51 year-on-year to 858; number of persons engaged (11,429) dropped by 451. Analysed by industry, Total Receipts of Manufacture of Food Products & Beverages continued to rise upon growing demand from visitors, up by 33.5% year-on-year to MOP1.95 billion; Intermediate Consumption (MOP1.36 billion) and Gross Value Added (MOP589 million) grew by 52.1% and 4.1% respectively. With the increase in infrastructure construction, Total Receipts (MOP2.24 billion), Intermediate Consumption (MOP1.85 billion) and Gross Value Added (MOP390 million) of Manufacture of Other Non-metallic Mineral Products (consisting mainly of cement and concrete) rose by 29.2%, 25.1% and 52.6% respectively. On the other hand, the continuous shrinkage of Manufacture of Wearing Apparel dragged down Total Receipts of the industry by 31.2% year-on-year to MOP695 million; Intermediate Consumption (MOP537 million) and Gross Value Added (MOP158 million) dropped by 32.0% and 28.4% respectively. Owing to the increase in local electricity generation and rising supply of natural gas, Total Receipts (MOP3.11 billion) and Intermediate Consumption (MOP865 million) of the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector increased by 16.6% and 23.5% respectively year-on-year; Gross Surplus (MOP1.55 billion) and Gross Value Added (MOP2.24 billion) rose by 11.1% and 14.1%. Establishments in the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector remained at 6; number of persons engaged (1,097) was similar to 2013. The Industrial Survey covers the Mining & Quarrying, Manufacturing and Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sectors. In 2014, there was no active establishment in the Mining & Quarrying sector.
