In view of the increased popularity of the new media applications, the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) launches its Wechat official account today to make good use of this platform for news publication. AACM hopes that subscribers can read their news or interesting facts in aviation at anytime and anywhere conveniently. With the advancement in technology, people have changed their behavior to a large extent in reading and communication with each other. The number of people in mainland China or elsewhere who are now using Wechat to obtain information and for social needs is increasing tremendously. According to a study targeting at Macao’s residents on the usage of the new media, 90% of the Macao population are using Wechat. In addition, more and more government entities have adopted Wechat to publish their news. With the aim of achieving a better result for news dissemination, AACM takes the opportunity of exploiting an additional channel to publish their stories so that the information can reach more local residents and overseas readers in a faster and more direct manner. In addition to publishing the updates of office work, AACM will take advantage of the Wechat platform to educate readers on those issues which concern the passengers, for example, explaining to them those provisions in Macao’s aviation laws and regulations that passengers should know and clearing their doubt which they have raised out when they filed complaints and submitted opinions previously. AACM will also talk about interesting facts in aviation to enable readers to gain knowledge of the industry operations or practices.
