Plácido Domingo, the world’s most renowned operatic virtuoso, will visit Macao for the first time with his hand-picked artists in co-operation with the Macao Orchestra under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau to present the concert Domingo and Macao Orchestra at 8:00pm on 29th August, Saturday, in the Grand Auditorium of Macao Cultural Centre. The concert has been co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Macau Government Tourist Office and supported by MGM MACAU. Performance will be held at one occasion only, limited number of tickets are still available. Plácido Domingo is a highly reputed tenor for his outstanding skills and artistic achievements and is one of the "Three Tenors". Until now, he has played over 144 different opera roles and performed classical works by composers Giacomo Puccini, Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, among many others. Domingo recorded over 100 albums, some of which sold over a million copies, and was awarded 12 Grammy awards. Domingo is known for his powerful and highly flexible, yet soft, voice, boasting a wide vocal range, also described as “soft as velvet”. Several countries, such as the United Kingdom, the U.S. and France, among others, have bestowed medals on the tenor in recognition of his musical talent and for his lifetime contributions and support to music.
