First-Day Ticket Sales of MIMF Satisfactory

Personnel maintained order and distributed chits at various ticket offices so that music fans could rest before buying

Tickets for the 29th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) have been for sale since 23 August. Many people excitedly waited at different ticket offices to buy the tickets. Ticket sales were ideal with about 7,000 sold by 7:00pm on 23 August. The grand 29th MIMF will take place from 4th October to 1st November, featuring some 23 extraordinary performances. The organiser sent personnel to various ticket offices at 8:00am on the first day of ticket sales to maintain order. They distributed chits to the waiting purchasers from 9:00am on that day so that they could rest prior to purchase. Sales on the first day were in good order, with more than 400 chits issued at various ticket offices. Tickets for the performance "Over the Moon" by Chanticleer, known as an orchestra of voices, were sold out on the first sales day. The performance "Stradivari Quartett" and concert to be performed by Icelandic sensation Ólafur Arnalds were also so popular that the tickets were almost sold out. The opening performance, "Gustav Mahler – Symphony No. 3", BBC Philharmonic's two performances of Symphony No. 9 ‘The Great’ and "Enigma Variations", the closing opera "Faust", Rimsky-Korsakov’s "one-act opera Mozart and Salieri", the performance by Mahler Chamber Orchestra and "Loess Ballads" were also hot-selling items. Moreover, free tickets for the performances at the churches were all distributed. Tickets for numerous outstanding performances are still on sale now, do not miss the chance! From now until 30 August, purchasing tickets for at least 4 different performances at a time, 10 or more tickets for the same performance at a time or presenting a valid full-time Student Card, a Teacher Card, a Macao Senior Citizen Card or a Disability Assessment Registration Card (each card for one ticket per performance only), can enjoy an early bird discount of 40%. From 31 August onwards, purchasers can enjoy 30% discount. purchasing any number of tickets for “Gustav Mahler – Symphony No. 3”, “Faust – Opera in 5 Acts by Charles Gounod” or “Xian Xinghai and Liu Tianhua Commemorative Concert – 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Anti-Japanese Resistance War” with a BOC Multi-currency Credit Card or BOC Card can enjoy 30% discount. Purchasing tickets for the other shows with a BOC Multi-currency Credit Card, a MasterCard, VISA Card or UnionPay Card issued by BCM, Tai Fung Bank, BNU or OCBC Wing Hang Bank can enjoy 20% discount.
