MGTO continues to work with Hong Kong travel trade to promote Macao and hosted Spring Luncheon in Hong Kong to thank travel trade and incentive partners

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a spring luncheon in Hong Kong today (18 February) to thank Hong Kong’s travel trade and incentive partners for their support to the tourism development of Macao over the years, and also to strengthen its cooperation with travel trade in promoting Macao. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes led a delegation, among which includes MGTO Deputy Director Cecilia Tse, from Macao to greet more than 150 travel trade executives at the luncheon. Commissioner for Tourism of Tourism Commission, Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Cathy Chu; Executive Director of Hong Kong Tourism Board, Anthony Lau; Deputy Chairman of Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, Gianna Hsu as well as Director of Asia Tourism Exchange Center Ltd., Li Jian Ping, were present in the luncheon among others. During the luncheon, Director Senna Fernandes extended her New Year blessings and appreciation for the support the Hong Kong tourism industry partners had made to promote Macao. Macao welcomed over 30 million visitors in 2015, with Hong Kong being the second largest tourist source market, over 6.4 million Hong Kong residents traveled to Macao last year, registering an increase of 1.7% over 2014. Entering the Year of the Monkey, MGTO will carry on its strenuous efforts to foster diversified and sustainable tourism development in Macao, supporting the Macao SAR Government’s work to speed up the city’s development into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. To align with the new promotional theme “Experience Macao Your Own Style”, MGTO hopes visitors can enjoy their trip in Macao in different ways to experience the city’s diverse culture and local colors. To actively act in tune with MGTO’s promotional strategies, MGTO Representative in Hong Kong will strengthen its communication with media and industry partners by regularly organizing seminars, product update presentations, thematic familiarization tours and joint promotions. Besides, the Representative will maximize its use of the internet and social platforms for tourism promotion. Brand new promotional activities will be rolled out this year, once again targeting different market segments including families, youngsters, as well as niche markets such as students, wedding couples and business incentives, to show the diversity of Macao as a destination.
