GMBPF 2017 records booming sales and visitor numbers


For the first time, GMBPF 2017 has assembled a variety of quality and characteristic products from Guangdong, Indonesia, Macao, and Myanmar.. The newly added Myanmar Products Exhibition & Sales Area has infused the event with more diverse elements, providing more buying options at even lower prices to the general public. As the second day of the event fell on a Saturday, more residents, tourists and their families flocked to the fair to buy their favourite products. Some residents said that GMBPF is a Macao brand exhibition and has become a must-visit destination for families during summer. Some exhibitors said that both the sales and visitor numbers at the GMBPF are above expectations and they expect the sales volume to soar on Sunday.

A series of enthralling programmes and games staged in Station Avenue attracted a large number of spectators while other large fun-filled installations, such as the Sweet Carousel, Macaron Ferris Wheel and the Mystic Egg, set up in the venue also attracted many visitors to have photographs taken with them.

Guangdong exhibitor attends for the ninth year and widely expands customer base

This year, Guangdong province p organised a total of 135 enterprises and 194 booths to exhibit their products, including foodstuff, daily goods, household appliances and souvenirs. As in last year, you will also find products with confidence guarantee under the title of “China Top Brand Products”, “China Well-known Trademark” and “Guangdong Top Brand Products” at the fair. Booths catering to different businesses were overwhelmed by visitors while exhibitors were very busy to attending to their customers.

A nine-year exhibitor, Xian Xiao Ling, person-in-charge of Zhanjiang Marine Products Ltd. noted that GMBPF is very attractive to Guangdong exhibitors, and with the strong support of the government, they are happy with the results. She pointed out that GMBPF is held concurrently with the Macao Franchise Expo 2017, which will attract exhibitors from the international pavilions to visit their booths to buy their products and help promote their hometown specialties to other countries. She also thought that the exhibition area is bigger and the number of visitors has increased, so they plan to participate again next year. Another nine-year exhibitor, Liang Li Ping, person-in-charge of Guangzhou Trading Co. said that as a long-established Guangzhou brand, they mainly sell additive-free health products and she believes that GMBPF is a gateway for traditional brands to enter the Macao market. She further said that they have accumulated many “repeat customers” in the past eight years and each year, there are Macao residents coming especially to find their booth, so they are considering opening a branch in Macao.

Macao enterprises hope to explore business opportunities at home and abroad via GMBPF

This year, the Macao Products Exhibition & Sales Area features 107 exhibitors, while products under the title of “Made in Macao”, “Macao Brands” and “Designed in Macao” and Macao cultural creative products are well-received. Person-in-charge of a local traditional dining brand, Mrs. Mok noted that they hope to extend the traditional culinary art handed down from generation to generation and promote it overseas. Leo Ho, Assistant of General-Manager of a local food trading company said that the number of visitors is better than expected and this provides them with a good exposure and they also wish to promote to the public a coffee brand imbued with Chinese and Portuguese tastes and styles.

Myanmar and Indonesia exhibitors expect to enter Macao market

Following the Indonesia Products Exhibition & Sales Area introduced last year, Myanmar Products Exhibition & Sales Area has been added this year to highlight the “Belt and Road” elements and strengthen trade and co-operation exchanges between Guangdong, Macao and the countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”. The two Areas feature 30 and 14 exhibitors, respectively. Ms. Olivia, person-in-charge of a jewellery company from Indonesia said that they received desirable results last year, so they returned this year. She further said that their silver accessories are widely received by Macao residents adding that the sales volume on the first day was quite impressive and they received even more visitors on Saturday. She further said that they are fully confident and anticipate good sales volumes this year. First-time exhibitor and Director of Maw Shan Green Tea & Laphet, Lin Pyae Htun believed that GMBPF is full of surprises and he has brought with him a variety of special teas and food and they have been very popular among Macao residents. He also hopes to enter the Macao market and disseminate the Myanmar traditional dining culture.

Station Avenue continues to stage fascinating programmes

Apart from delicate setups, booths along Station Avenue also feature a variety of food and fun-filled elements, such as hi-tech 3D Printed Food, Custom-made Creative Gifts, Station Maze and VR Coaster Adventure. Furthermore, Hong Kong actor Steve Lee was once again invited to teach his culinary art, injecting a lively atmosphere into the site. A local resident, Mr. Ng said that he came here with his family and relatives especially and he believes that GMBPF is a brand exhibition and the products on display are of high quality and sold at a reasonable price, so he comes every year to buy his favourite products, and this has become a regular “activity” during summer. He further said that he still finds there is plenty more he wants to buy despite already spending some MOP4,000 and he would also inform his relatives and friends once he finds the products suitable for them.

Sunday is last day of the event. Visitors should not miss the chance to go on a shopping spree! Station Avenue will continue to stage a series of fascinating programmes, including dance, a magic show, cheerleading performance and several product presentation sessions, in addition to the GMBPF Best Marketing Awards 2017 and lucky draw. To encourage the public to support public transportation as a priority and to encourage green travel, GMBPF 2017 has arranged free shuttle buses. Services will run between the GMBPF 2017 venue and the following destinations: Rua do Dr. Pedro José Lobo (Macau Plaza); Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida; Iao Hon Market; and Taipa Central Park. There are also parking areas at Exhibition Hall D and E with a limited number of parking spaces on a first-come, first-served basis.
