The aeronautical authorities of mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Cooperation between Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR to enhance the efficiency of Air Traffic Management on 13 July 2017. The three parties agree to boost the capacity to ensure their joint management of air traffic and to construct a database to enhance their research studies and planning work.
The Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) and the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong SAR (HKCAD) are meeting together in Macao to hold the Second Steering Committee Meeting of Air Traffic Management between Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR on 13 July 2017. This morning, the three parties updated to each other the status of the air traffic management in the Pearl River Delta Region and signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Cooperation between Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR to enhance the efficiency of Air Traffic Management, the agreement of which the three sides agree to establish the routine coordination mechanism for managing the volume of air traffic, the contingency plan for coordinating with each other for managing the volume of air traffic, as well as enhance the automation procedures in order to satisfy the flight clearance need of the Hong Kong and Macao airports and so on; in addition, the three sides also agree to build up a shared database which will be helpful to support their research studies and planning work with the simulation of the air space operations in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area.
The signing ceremony was convened in AACM’s Office at 11:30. The three signatories were the Director-General of ATMB, Mr. Che JinJun, the Director-General of HKCAD, Mr. Simon Li and the President of AACM, Mr. Chan Weng Hong. The Secretary for Transport and Public Works of Macao SAR, Mr. Raimundo do Rosário and the Deputy Administrator of CAAC, Mr. Dong ZhiYi presided at the ceremony as the guests of honour.
The Deputy Administrator of CAAC will also take advantage of this Macao mission to visit CAM-Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. and Air Macau Co. Ltd. to exchange with these two companies about the development of air transport between mainland China and Macao. The delegation will also visit the Macau International Airport to observe the infrastructure.
