The 64th edition of Macau’s largest annual international sporting event, the Macau Grand Prix, will be held from November 16-19, 2017. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) held a press conference today (May 25th) at the Macao Science Center, and announced Suncity Group as the Event Title Sponsor of this year’s Macau Grand Prix.

During the event, Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and Coordinator of MGPOC and Mr. Alvin Chau, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Suncity Group, marked the signing of the sponsorship agreement with the presentation of a giant cheque. This year’s event is officially named the Suncity Group 64th Macau Grand Prix, the fourth consecutive time the company has supported the event as title sponsor.

Other race title sponsors are SJM, which again lends its name to the Macau GT Cup, this year marking its tenth edition, and long-time supporter CTM as sponsor of the Macau Touring Car Cup.

The Macau Grand Prix continues to grow each year, and last year’s edition attracted record numbers of viewers on TV and online. Ninety-three networks broadcast more than 1,003 hours of coverage to hundreds of millions around the globe. Introduced for the first time last year and carried by the world’s largest motorsport online portals, the official Macau Grand Prix live stream contributed towards the more than 11.5 million viewers watching on computers and mobile devices, bringing the event to a whole new generation of fans. Providing media coverage of the event were 1,125 accredited journalists from 251 media organisations representing 24 countries and territories. The official website, meanwhile, received more than 16 million hits over the four-day event.

Promotion for this year’s event both at home and abroad is already well underway, and will increase throughout the year. The Grand Prix is again benefitting from the strong support of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), which includes the event in its comprehensive, year-round programme of promotional activities. A well-attended Macau Grand Prix promotion was held at the Chinese F1 Grand Prix in Shanghai in April. Here in Macao, educational visits to the Grand Prix facilities by local school children have already begun. Training of Macao’s race marshals and officials, and driver emergency extrication training, will once again be conducted by the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC).

Tickets for the 64th Macau Grand Prix are available for reservation now. Prices remain unchanged from last year, and range from MOP50 (USD6.50) for the November 16 and 17 practice and qualifying days, up to MOP900.00 (USD115.00) for a spectator seat at the Lisboa Stand for each of the November 18 and 19 race days. Almost 14,000 seats are available to the public for each day, including 5,170 at the popular Lisboa Stand.

Organisers look forward to seeing both local residents and visitors celebrate the carnival atmosphere surrounding this prestigious local sporting brand through a wide variety of events.
