The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum More than 1,400 leaders from politics, business and academia gather in Macao

The “7th IIICF” successfully arranged for the signing of 14 co-operative project agreements and memorandums.

More 1,400 government officials and leaders in the business and academic fields from more than 60 countries and regions have been invited to the “8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (hereinafter “8th IIICF”). The event will incorporate Macao’s dedication to advancing the development of featured financial industries and financial leasing, and contribute to the industrial capacity of the nation and help enterprises in Mainland China and those from Macao to “Go out” and take part in the national policy of “The Belt and Road”.

During the “International Co-operation Summit Forum on the "Belt and Road" Initiative” hosted in May, President Xi Jinping of China, mentioned that the connectivity between facilities is the foundation of co-operation and development. Meanwhile Mainland China will propose a number of project loans, so as to support the infrastructure building, industrial capacity, and financial collaboration under “The Belt and Road”. This proposal will make the “8th IIICF”, which is to be held on 1 and 2 June, more realistic meaningful and directed.

In the two-day “8th IIICF” event, two thematic forums and 12 forums will be held concurrently. The exhibitions will also be set up in the same venue. Up to mid-May, 55 ministerial level government officials responsible for the areas of investment, development, energy, construction, finance, engineering, transportation, and city development from 43 countries and regions along “The Belt and Road” have been invited. 30 representatives of the international financial institutions such as the World Bank, the National Development Bank, China Export-Import Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and World Bank, 230 guests from the provinces and regions in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (9+2), around 70 professionals and scholars, executives of Mainland Chinese and overseas key enterprises, guests from the consultation agencies and engineering equipment enterprises will participate in this event.

Meanwhile, Macao will also actively illustrate its role as the services platform for the commercial co-operation between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. Government officials at the ministerial level or above and representatives of enterprises and institutions, from Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe Democratic Republic and East Timor among others have also been invited.

“IIICF” helps Macao enterprises to take part in the national policy “The Belt and Road”.

Last year, the “7th IIICF” successfully arranged for the signing of 14 co-operative project agreements and memorandums, and created a network between national and foreign enterprises, and brought about business opportunities. In particular, six of the co-operative project agreements and memorandums were related to local enterprises. It can be seen that as the “IIICF” was held in Macao, it will not only help Macao to push forward the development of featured financial industry and financial leasing, it will also help Macao enterprises to “Go out” and take part in the national policy “The Belt and Road”, and catch up with the speed of our country’s development.

The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Government of the Macao SAR, and the Central People's Government Liaison Office of the Macao SAR are advisers on the “8th IIICF”, which will be jointly organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. The theme of the event is “Collaboratively Build a Diversified, Innovative, and Sustainable Infrastructure with Industry Connectivity”.
