Change of actors in the 28th MAF performance Lady Anguo

The 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents a new adaptation of the Beijing opera Lady Anguo on 23 May. Due to health reasons, the actress Dong Yuanyuan, in the leading role of “Liang Hongyu”, will be replaced by the actress Guo Xiao. The remaining cast of the performance will remain unchanged. The MAF apologizes for the inconvenience.

Guo Xiao is a National Second Class Performer of the China National Peking Opera Company and is a graduate of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. She is also a student of Postgraduate Course for Outstanding Young Performers in Peking Opera. Guo Xiao has won the Silver Award of the National Youth Television Grand Prix and the Excellent Performance Award at the National Excellent Plays Showcase presented by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. She also played the leading role in several operas, including Generals of the Yang Family, Su Wu of Han Dynasty, The Lotus Lantern, Silang Visits His Mother and The Legend of Xie Huan.

This new adaptation of the historical classic Lady Anguoby the China National Peking Opera Company was one of the highlights of the 7th China Peking Opera Art Festival. It was highly acclaimed by audience and critics alike during its performances in Beijing and Shanghai, for its multi-dimensional and character construction, fast-paced story-telling, and delightful style of performance.
