On the first day of “2017 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition” (MIECF) (30 March) at 2:00 p.m., the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will host the “Green Environmental Business Cooperation Day” event in the Venetian Macau - Resort – Hotel - Sicily Room. The executives of the local and overseas business associations, and experts are invited to the event to discuss the special topic on the innovations which advance the development of manufacturing and tourism, in order to bring about new ideas and opportunities for the development of the enterprises.
Helping Enterprises to Explore Environmental Business Opportunities
The “Green Business Cooperation Day” is one of the serial activities of 2017MIECF, including the Green Business Forum, the signing ceremony, and so on. The Green Business Forum will take place in two sessions.
1. The Future of Manufacturing - Innovative Sustainable Economy
Due to the new patterns of the economic development, the traditional manufacturing industry is going through a transitional period, and the outdated ideas, methods and means have to be replaced by innovative ideas, modes and paths. The globe has entered the era of Industry 4.0. “Intelligent Manufacturing” will lead to a new point in economic growth, and it can help creating the updated version of green economy.They will discuss the key business models of manufacturing, the impact of the new era on carbon emissions awareness, consumers’ demand for the sustainability of enterprises, and the seek for the new green highlighted point for manufacturing. In this session, Mr. António Trindade, Founding President of the Macao Association of Environmental Protection Industry, is invited to be the moderator. The speakers are Mr. Junji Hatano, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Carbon Partners Asiatica, Mr. Vasco Pimenta, Chief Executive Officer of Spin.Works, Mr. Roy Eric Xavier, Chairman of the International Macanese Alliance (Macau), and Dr. Billy Wu, Lecturer of the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College.
2. Green Business of Sustainable Coastal Tourism
Since Macao is a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, local Industry-Academia-Research has been committed to promote Macao’s sustainable development on tourism plans and the best executive plan through innovative pattern. In this session, successful and unique experiences related to the development on the neighboring area are shared and this helps to further push forward the integrated development between Macao and neighboring coastal regions. Furthermore, the management of Macao’s 85km2maritime space is one of the important issues for the future development. As for “establishment towards sea”, a full protection has to be done on water resources. A group of professional experts are invited to the session to discuss related technical and executive plans and further explore the need for the priority on the sustainable coastal tourism. Dr. Fanny Vong, President of the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), is invited to be the moderator in this session. Dr. Wong and other speakers, who are Mr. Andrew Jones, Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, Dr. Ieong Tou Hong, Chairman of Macau Economic Development Promotion Association, Mr. Yu Youkang, Deputy Director of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee Policy Research Office and the Zhuhai Economic and Social Development Research Center, and Mr. Sébastien Portes, General Manager of Hong Kong & Macau, ClubMed, will discuss related issues and share relevant experiences.
Building a Green Business Network and Witnessing the Green Business Opportunities
The “Signing Ceremony” will take place immediately after 5:30 p.m., in Expo Hall A of the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. A series of co-operation agreements in environmental protection will be signed on the spot. This event will provide an opportunity for business and exchange discussions for enterprises from different parts of the world, further promoting environmental co-operation between local and overseas enterprises.
