Applications for the 35th Macao Young Musicians Competition open in March

In order to promote the development of classical music in Macao, to encourage young local musicians to explore their musical potential, and to provide them valuable stage experience and learning opportunities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes the “35thMacao Young Musicians Competition”, between 22nd July and 3rd August, to be held in designated venues in Macao. Applications will be open from 20th to 26th March.

This edition of Macao Young Musicians Competition, dedicated to piano, features 18 categories with elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. Applicants must hold a valid Macao SAR Resident identity card and must have been born on or after 1996. A First, Second and Third prizes, Distinction and Merit certificate will be awarded in each category. All the First Prize winners in solo category or competitors recommended by the jury will have the opportunity to participate in the “Special Prizes Competition”, competing for the “Best Performance in Elementary Category”, “Best Performance in Intermediate Category” and “Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize”. All the First Prize winners in ensemble category will have the opportunity to compete for the “Best Ensemble Performance Prize”.

In order to facilitate the applicants, applications can be made via online registration first, followed by payment and document submission. Applicants can register online from 10am on 20thMarch to 6pm on 26th March through the webpage of the Macao Young Musicians Competition (www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm). Supporting documents and an application fee of MOP100 per category must be submitted at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building located at Tap Siac Square between 24th and 26th March, from 10am to 7pm (open during lunch hour). Applicants may also prepare all required documents and apply at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building during the document submission period and time indicated above, where they can make the online registration under the assistance from support officers.

Applicants may consult the compulsory pieces of the competition at the Macao Central Library, Sir Robert Ho Tung Library, Patane Library and Taipa Library from today during opening hours.
