To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous Portuguese symbolism poet, Camilo de Almeida Pessanha (1867-1926), Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “150th Anniversary of the Birth of Camilo Pessanha” on 7th September, 2017.
Camilo de Almeida Pessanha was born in Coimbra. After graduation at the Faculty of Law, he came to Macao in 1894 then taught at the school “Liceu de Macau”. Camilo Pessanha chose Macao for his exile, where he was attracted by China; he adored Chinese poetries and characters. He had been living in Macao for 32 years, and finally passed away in Macao with his body being buried at St. Michael Cemetery, leaving a poetry anthology entitled “Clepsidra”.
This issue includes a set of two stamps and one souvenir sheet. The stamp designer Carlos Marreiros through his outstanding imagination and delicate brush strokes: Camilo Pessanha and his beloved lady (it is said to be named “Silver Eagle”) holding hands together and flying freely like phoenix, and travelling over the mirror sea in the sky and clouds far away.
The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office and the Communications Museum, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The philatelic products are as follows:
300,000 stamps with the face value of 2.00 patacas
300,000 stamps with the face value of 5.50 patacas
300,000 souvenir sheets with the face value of 12.00 patacas
4,000 FDC @ 5.00 patacas
4,000 FDC/SS @ 5.00 patacas
5,500 information brochures @ 6.50 patacas
The selling price for one set of two stamps is 7.50 patacas, the first day cover with stamps (FDC) is 12.50 patacas, the first day cover with souvenir sheet (FDC/SS) is 17.00 patacas, the information brochure with stamps is 14.00 patacas and the information brochure with souvenir sheet is 18.50 patacas.
The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Carlos Marreiros, and the text of the information brochure is written byMr. Yao Feng.
