Intermediate Consumption of the manufacturing sector dropped by 8.1% year-on-year to MOP4.58 billion, whereas Gross Surplus (MOP890 million) and Gross Value Added (MOP2.31 billion) increased by 10.4% and 6.5% respectively. In spite of a 4.7% growth in Receipts of Publishing & Printing (MOP800 million), Intermediate Consumption (MOP510 million) increased by 12.5% year-on-year due to higher production costs for processing services, thus bringing Gross Surplus (MOP30.60 million) and Gross Valued Added (MOP290 million) down by 23.0% and 7.0% respectively. Among the emerging industries, Manufacture of Chinese Medicine showed continued growth, with Receipts rising notably by 65.7% year-on-year to MOP48.70 million, representing the third consecutive year of increase.

As regards the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector, increased electricity consumption drove Receipts up by 4.9% year-on-year to MOP3.53 billion, whereas Intermediate Consumption decreased by 3.7% to MOP950 million due to lower prices of fuel used in electricity generation.
