The initial review of the “2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), has been recently completed. The adjudicating panel selected 15 entrants for the second review. Each candidate eligible for the second review will be granted a subsidy up to a maximum amount of MOP220,000 to cover expenses of production, promotion and marketing of the original song albums.
The “2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums” aims to cultivate more talented local music creators and producers and promote the development of Macao’s music industry. By giving support on the production and promotion of the original song albums, IC hopes to encourage musicians to produce and release more outstanding works and lay the groundwork for market development. A total of 33 applications were received this year. The professional adjudicating panel has selected 15 entrants as follows (in arbitrary order): Ma Man Lei, Ho Chon Ian, Lei Chon, Filipe António da Silva Baptista, Leong Chi Long, Lam Wai Hong, Leong Wai Hou, Pak Keong Sequeira, João Nunes Pestana Da Silva Caetano, Tang Hou Chun, Chong Chon Heng, Chang Heng Ian, Kuong Wing Hang, Pang Tat Seng and Chio Song Hou.
Entrants shall submit the “Second Review Information Form for the 2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”, one complete song, three to five drawings of the album image or design drawings (if any), and introduce their album production and marketing plan to the adjudicating panel. The adjudicating panel will select a maximum of eight beneficiaries based on seven criteria: level of composition and lyrics, level of arrangement and production, performance level of album artist, implementation capacity of applicant and the crew, compatibility between market positioning and the album songs and album image, degree of perfection of album production proposals and marketing plans, as well as budget rational. Each beneficiary may receive a subsidy of up to MOP220,000 for the production, promotion and marketing of the album. Besides, each beneficiary may receive advices from veteran music professionals.
The adjudicating panel for the initial review included Hong Kong music supervisor Schumann, Hong Kong music producer Edward Chan, Warner Music Hong Kong - A&R Robin Chi, Hong Kong musician Vicky Fung, as well as founder of Taiwan Colors Music 43 Chang and founder of Taiwan Riverside Live House Geddy Lin.
