MGTO joins “Beautiful China” promotional event in Liaoning to enhance tourism cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participates in the “Beautiful China – Liaoning Tour” Promotional Event and the Meeting for Tourism Exchange and Cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao. During the event, MGTO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation with the Liaoning Tourism Bureau today (21 September) to foster mutual exchange and cooperation in the tourism field.

Jointly organized by the Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Liaoning Tourism Bureau, Tourism Commission of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and MGTO, the “Beautiful China – Liaoning Tour” Promotional Event and the Meeting for Tourism Exchange and Cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao is held from 20 to 24 September. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and Head of Communication and External Relations Department, Kathy Iong, participate in the event together with travel trade delegates from Macao.

The “Beautiful China – Liaoning Tour” Promotional Event and the Meeting for Tourism Exchange and Cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao features the three destinations’ joint presentation, announcement ceremony of the incentive travel policy for Hong Kong and Macao visitors to Liaoning, signing ceremonies, travel mart, familiarization visits, summary discussions and so forth.

On 21 September, Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao held a joint destination presentation followed by an array of ceremonies in Shenyang, during which Deputy Director of Liaoning Tourism Bureau, Wang Xiaojiang, and Head of Communication and External Relations Department of MGTO, Kathy Iong, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation to enhance mutual cooperation and communication as well as to foster tourism developments of both destinations. Director General of Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of CNTA, Li Yaying, Deputy Secretary General of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, Shi Jianxin, the Commissioner for Tourism of Tourism Commission, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Cathy Chu, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and Director of Asia Tourism Exchange Center, Li Jianping, witnessed the ceremony together with other guests.

On the day, MGTO elaborated Macao’s tourism development and presented the latest tourism facilities and products as well as Macao’s positioning as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. Liaoning Tourism Bureau and Hong Kong Tourism Board both presented the tourism situation and resources of their destinations as well.

During her speech, Director Senna Fernandes remarked that MGTO capitalizes on the international airports of neighbouring cities, the high-speed rail network across various provinces and cities in the Mainland, as well as the cruise tourism network to continuously deepen regional tourism cooperation and jointly expand visitor source markets. She also stated that the three destinations each possess abundant and unique tourism resources. Through sharing their strengths and resources, in addition to diverse opportunities brought by regional tourism cooperation, there will be deeper and broader potentials for tourism cooperation between Liaoning and Macao as well as between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao.

Through participation in the event, MGTO seeks to deepen tourism cooperation between Liaoning and Macao, while creating opportunities for members of the travel industry from both destinations to connect and share their latest industry news and tourism products for stronger connections and collaboration.

The delegation of MGTO and Macao’s travel trade will pay familiarization visits to a range of major tourism resources and facilities in various places including the national historical and cultural city Shenyang, Benxi, Dandong, as well as Dalian from 20 to 24 September.
