GGCT received a request for assistance regarding the hotel fire in Yangon, Myanmar


The Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received today (19th of October) a notification from the Global Emergency Call Center for Consular Protection and Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China regarding a Macao resident traveling with her family in Yangon, Myanmar, who suffered injuries to her waist while escaping from a hotel fire. Afterwards her family contacted the GGCT and requested for assistance.

At 18:00, GGCT contacted again the Embassy of China in Myanmar, as well as the affected resident, in order to get an update on the situation. The Embassy of China in Myanmar confirmed that there was only one Chinese citizen injured in the fire, the same Macao resident subject of the request for GGCT assistance. The resident is a female in her forties. At the moment, the resident is conscious with no threat to her life, but unable to move. The family is handling the visa formalities to go to Myanmar. GGCT will maintain in close contact with the Embassy of China in Myanmar and the resident in order to provide possible assistance.
