Exhibitors from worldwide gathered at the opening of “22nd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (22nd MIF) and “2017 Portuguese-Speaking-Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2017 PLPEX) in the first day filling of vibrant atmosphere with trade and economy. “The “Angola, Guangdong and Macao Trade and Investment Forum”, “The 7th Jiangsu – Macau • Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Forum” which gathered professionals around the world to share their insights, in addition to the exclusive activities staged in MIF and PLPEX included the “Thematic Day of Beijing Pavilion”, “Macao Fashion Festival 2017”, “PSC Fashion Show”, “Portuguese-speaking Countries Art piece Showcase”, “Portuguese-speaking Countries Cultural Music/Dance Performance”.
MIF promotes regional co-operation
“The 7th Jiangsu – Macau • Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Forum” has strengthen closer relationship between Macao and Jiangsu in expanding trade and economic co-operation and establishing business platform through assembling variety of resources. Chen Zhenning, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, noted that they have been hosting this activity in Macao for five consecutive years, which has been a portal for economic and cultural exchanges and all-round collaboration between Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries. He also hoped that via the role of Macao as a Sino-Portuguese platform, they would enhance their production capacity reciprocation with Portuguese-speaking Countries, promote the industrialisation process of Portuguese-speaking Countries, actively initiate trade promotion activities specific to Portuguese-speaking Countries, build an effective trade promotion platform, and steadily increase trade volumes. During the forum, a number of protocols were signed, including the “Memorandum of Jasmine Scholarship for Students of Jiangsu Province Studying in Portuguese-speaking Countries” signed between Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao).
Jointly organised by Department of Commerce of Fujian Province and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the “Fujian, Macao and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic Exchange Networking Session” aimed to promote trade and economic interchanges between Fujian, Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Macao. Adopting the theme of trade and economy of Portuguese-speaking Countries, power construction, beer and the MICE industry, Macao acts as a business and trade platform to exert its role to expand the Portuguese-Speaking Countries markets, strengthen and deepen co-operation between Fujian and Macao. The interaction and interchange between the economic and trade departments, business associations and enterprises of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Fujian and Macao provided connectivity and exploration of business opportunity mutually.
Gain high appreciation for PLPEX as unique exhibition
For the first time, PLPEX is being staged as unique exhibition this year, we can find wide variety of quality products sourcing from Portuguese-Speaking Countries, e.g. cheese, choice meats and wine, as well as products on display in the style and character of Portuguese-Speaking Countries include apparel and accessories, handicrafts, sculptures, and weaving products. One of the exhibition-goers Miss Wang, from Beijing, said that she has been participated many trade fairs to look for raw materials for food production on behalf of her company and this was the first time she has participated in PLPEX in Macao. She thought that the Portuguese-speaking Countries products provided many choices and were of excellent quality, which met the needs for food materials and they were discussing importing with a Mozambique exhibitor.
Furthermore, in PSC Fashion Show, models wearing Angolan and Portuguese brands’ garments and accessories walking through the venue , attracting a great deal of attention from visitors, and along with the dance and music performance, the whole venue had a very vibrant atmosphere.
