Thematic Pavilions with Distinctive Features of Partner Country Angola and Partner Province – Guangdong Deepening regional co-operation for exploring SMEs business opportunities

MIF becomes an important platform to explore international markets

The Pavilions of MIF Partner Country - Angola and Partner Province - Guangdong opened today (19 Oct) to showcase their unique industries and products. The pavilions with distinctive features of industries and products attracted domestic and overseas exhibitors to initiate business negotiations, providing a wide range of information and networking platform for exhibitors and visitors from all over the world and for small and medium-sized enterprises of Macao.

Partner Country expands China-Angola co-operation

Angola, as the invited Partner Country of this year’s MIF, led a delegation of more than 80 representatives from more than 50 Angolan enterprises to take part in this year’s MIF. The Partner Country-“Angola Pavilion’ covers an area of 300 square metres to showcase Angola’s local foodstuff and beverages, marble and other decorative stones. Many overseas and local visitors/ merchants were interested enough to drop in for business negotiations. Chairman of Confederation of Angola Business Associations, Francisco Viana expressed that from their first participation in MIF back in 1998 to the present, the scope of co-operation with the Macao SAR has been bigger and better. Their experience of MIF in terms of service, technology, and culture has also been improved. He also mentioned that Angola has been undergoing tremendous changes, which is also seen in the economic sector. Some of the banks in Angola intend to invest in Macao, and other enterprises have started to manufacture and market products in Macao such as coffee. It is believed that the thematic pavilion setup at MIF can attract more investment and focus. He is looking forward to the future development between Angola and Macao.

Partner Province showcases business opportunities in the Greater BayArea

Another highlight of MIF this year is the thematic pavilion of the Partner Province - Guangdong Pavilion where the main pavilion accommodates exhibition zones of prefecture-level cities and enterprises. More than 250 exhibitors and visitors participated in MIF which includes business associations and enterprises from different businesses and trade of Guangdong Province to collectively showcase the economic development environment and advantages in terms of resources in the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area. The Department of Commerce of the Guangdong Province, Business Communications Office, Researcher Luo Kui said the Guangdong Pavilion adopts the themes of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Construction in the Free Trade Zone, Investment Environment in Guangdong, Overseas Representative Offices of Economic and Trade of Guangdong Province, Friendship Provinces / States, and Tourism, placing emphasis on Guangdong’s distinctive tourism resources and introduces to businesses and merchants from all over the world as well as those from Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao, about the investment environment and incentives of Guangdong, about Guangdong’s participation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and about the achievements of the transformation of Guangdong in terms of investment, trade, finance and functions of the government.

Results of the negotiations at the Pavilions are plentiful and merchants and visitors are drawn in to gather. Especially in the first day, Guangdong association and Macao enterprise signed a co-operation intent whereby they agreed to introduce some of Guangdong province’s time- honoured branded products to Macao. Guangdong province’s time-honoured brands Association - Executive Vice-President and Secretary-General Fan Yiping said, some of Guangdong’s time-honoured brands started to take part in the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair several years ago, and with the more frequent economic and trade flow between Guangdong and Macao, the procedures for products to gain market entry in Macao have already been made simpler. A food product exhibitor from Zhuhai, Huang Shusheng mentioned that their company produces in traditional sauces including packaged traditional ingredients for marinades, marinating sauces, and canned chilli sauce. Sales volume has been on the rise year-on-year. It is hoped that the scope of businesses can be expanded to the markets of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. He added that Macao is a very good platform and hoped to make use of the MIF platform to look for agencies to promote their products in the Macao area. Within just half a day of the opening of MIF, they have been approached by potential purchasers who have shown great interest in their products.
