MIF and PLPEX enhance domestic and overseas trade and economic exchanges Assist enterprises to “Go Global” and “Bring in Investments”

Enterprises approve of PLPEX for enabling visitors to better understand the characteristics of Portuguese-speaking Countries products.

The “22nd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (22nd MIF) and “2017 Portuguese-Speaking-Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2017 PLPEX) are held at The Venetian Macao from 19th to 21st October 2017 attracting organisations, enterprises, buyers and professional visitors to participate in these events from Mainland China, Portuguese-speaking Countries, European countries, the United States, countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” and Macao. Some exhibitors expressed that through the effective platform in exhibiting products, services and resources, they have accelerated the business development in the meantime in the process of exploring new business opportunities and regional markets, also as a way to enhance communications and exchanges as well as explore regional co-operation.

Domestic and overseas governments and enterprises enhance trade and economic exchanges

Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of Administration of Shenyang Area of China (Liaoning) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Gao Feng noted that although the Shenyang Pavilion was set up in last year’s MIF, it is their first time in name of the government in participating in this event and therefore is especially meaningful. He believed that Macao is an important part of the “Belt and Road” initiative and a place renowned for its East-meets-West culture and enjoying the advantage of international trade. The platform established by the Organiser to facilitate networking between the government departments from Mainland China and Macao enterprises providing a portal for Shenyang free trade zone to expand international trade. On the first day of the event, a Strategic Co-operation Framework Agreement was signed between Shenyang free trade zone and The Northeast China Trade and Investment Promotion Association of Macau, which marks a new chapter for trade and economic collaboration between the Northeast China and Macao. Another co-operation agreement was signed between a Shenyang enterprise and a Macao association for the purpose of introducing products and the culture of Portuguese-speaking Countries to Shenyang and advancing bilateral trade reciprocation.

Person-in-charge of a Macao business association, Carmen Lei said that she has been desiring to build a platform for trade, education, tourism and cultural exchanges between Macao and Canada and since 2015, they have participated in MIF annually and have successfully aided business negotiations and co-operation between Mainland China and Canada. She also believed that MIF serves as a bridge to deepen Sino-Canadian friendship and strengthen economic and trade co-operation and relations between the two countries.

Enterprises praise PLPEX for a wide display of products

Joao Carlos Breda from a Portuguese company said that their company was established in Macao in 2012 and has participated in MIF for three consecutive years. He believed that MIF can help them to explore the Mainland market and hope to further promote their products to attract more companies to work with them. Mr. Fu, representing a local Macao company to participate in PLPEX, said that their company is engaged in cross-border e-commerce business selling Portuguese-speaking Countries products and has an online sales platform reaching out hub to the market of Mainland China. This year, PLPEX is staged as unique event and he hoped that PLPEX will catch the attention of more overseas merchants so that exhibitors will have access to and discuss more business opportunities. Another exhibitor from Beijing Mr. Wang engaged in production of daily products and food products, he expressed that he is a frequent visitors in many domestic and overseas trade fairs looking for raw sources of foodstuff for their production. Prior to his arrival, he had followed the instructions of the Organiser to complete the registration and make pre-arrangements for his company on the MIF online platform “Online Business Matching Service Platform”. As a first-time participant, Wang said that PLPEX offers a wide display of exhibits and their quality fulfils their needs while they are discussing import trade with a meat company from Portugal.
