Macao Tourism Data plus offers new features for continuously enhanced service

Derive a new indicator of “By Overnight/Same-day” from the original indicator of “By Source Markets”

The Macao Tourism Data plus (“MTD plus”), an online platform of statistical figures run by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), not only has optimized its current features but also added new statistical indicators for its data, with the aim to provide a more comprehensive and convenient service for users in their data search.

MGTO first launched the “MTD plus” in 2015 and has kept optimizing the platform ever since. Following an addition of Portuguese language for its content, subscription service and more statistical indicators on hotel industry figures last year, four new indicators and features are now available on the platform.

The four new indicators and features include:

  1. The indicator of “By Individual Visit Scheme” is added for interactive data;
  2. Derive a new indicator of “By Overnight/Same-day” from the original indicator of “By Source Markets” and provide an analytic indication of overnight and same-day visitor trends for different source markets;
  3. Optimize the color indication of various visitor source markets for shaper contrast on the distribution maps;
  4. The content is now available in Simplified Chinese.

The “MTD plus” is equipped with an array of features including interactive data, tourism statistics tables, E-publications, other tourism statistics, distribution maps of visitor source markets as well as tourism situation video. After updated, a total of ten indicators are currently available for indication of statistical data in an interactive format, including total visitor arrivals, by source markets, by overnight/same-day, by individual visit scheme, by modes of transport, average length of stay of visitors and that of hotel overnight guests, number of guests of operating hotel establishments, occupancy rate of operating hotel establishments, as well as number of operating hotel establishments.

In the days ahead, MGTO will press on to optimize different features of the “MTD plus” by taking opinions of users and industry operators into consideration, so that users will find it an expedient tool for search of local tourism figures with its enhanced convenience.
