The University of Macau (UM) English Debating Team and Public Speaking Team recently participated in the 2017 Public Speaking and Debating Contest for Universities from Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Macao, which was organised by Fudan University.
Two members of the UM Debating Team, namely Hariharan Narayanan and Garrett Li, won the championship and the second prize, respectively, at the debating section of the contest. Narayanan also won the Best Debater Award. Li Shanshan from the UM Public Speaking Team won the Best Pronunciation Award at the public speaking section of the contest.
The contest attracted students from UM, Fudan University, East China University of Science and Technology, East China Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, SHISU, and Tongji University.
