Two subjects at the FST enter Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018 by Subject.
Two subjects at the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) have entered the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2018 by Subject. The subject of engineering and technology has been ranked between No 151 and No 175 in the world, while the subject of computer science has been ranked between No 176 and No 200 in the world. UM is the only higher education institution from Macao that has made it to the list in terms of these two subjects, which is testament to the growing international recognition of the FST’s academic and research achievements in recent years.
The THE rankings are recognised as one of the most influential university rankings in the world. In the World University Rankings 2018 by Subject, universities are analysed across 13 performance indicators under five categories, namely teaching, research quality, citations, industry income, and international outlook. The rankings this year show that UM has made a lot of effort in advancing academic and research development towards international standards.
The FST has been playing an active role in the promotion of science and technology as well as education in Macao. The faculty aims to develop itself into a world-class engineering and science institute and provide high quality degree programmes of international standards at undergraduate and postgraduate level. At the same time, the faculty will continue to foster collaboration with academic institutions and professional bodies in the region, advance research and scholarship, and nurture students into science and technology professionals as well as leaders of the society.
