Considering the recent situation in Bali, the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) raised the Travel Alert to that destination to Level 2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued a security alert. Following is the translated version of the full text:
“Alerts Chinese citizens not to travel to Bali during this period

Since the first eruption of the Agung volcano in Bali on 21 November, the intensity of its activity has been increasing, generating repeatedly high volume of volcanic ash. Affected by this, the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport is temporarily closedfrom 07:15 on the 27thof November until 07:00 on the 28thof November(local time), with all flights being cancelled.
At the moment the level of alert for the Agung volcano has reached the maximum level of 4. All activities in the area within a radius of 8 km around the crater and within a radius of 10 km North-Northeast, Southwest-South-Southeast of the crater are prohibited.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate-General of China in Denpasar alerts Chinese citizens not to travel to Bali during this period. Chinese citizens already in Bali should maintain in maximum alert, strengthen security precautions to ensure their personal safety, avoid traveling to areas close to the volcano, make appropriate adjustments to their travel plans, maintain in contact with the travel agencies or airlines where their air-tickets were purchased, as well as being on alert to avoid the risk of being stranded. In case of an emergency, contact immediately the police and the Consulate-General of China.
Given the special circumstances of the destination in question, if Chinese citizens insist on traveling to Bali after this alert is issued, they might encounter high security risk and be subjected to delays in receiving any assistance.

The GGCT alerts Macao residents who intend to travel to or are already in Bali to reconsider for the moment the travel. It is suggested to avoid non-essential travel to the destination.
The GGCT will keep monitoring the latest developments of the situation.
