CE to visit Guangzhou for annual Guangdong-Macao conference


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will lead a Government delegation to visit Guangzhou, in Guangdong Province, on 11 December, for the 2017 Guangdong-Macao Co-operation Joint Conference.

During the meeting, Mr Chui and the Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Ma Xingrui, will review past achievements and discuss issues of mutual interest.

Topics for discussion will include: enhancing efforts for the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; outlining annual major tasks for the Framework Agreement on Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao; advancing facility connectivity and integration so to build an international technology and innovation centre; boosting industry modernisation; and strengthening participation in the development of the “Belt and Road” initiative.

The two sides will also explore closer cooperation ties in tourism, environmental protection, medical services, cultural affairs and food safety.

Additionally, the two governments will endorse several agreements during the conference.

Officials accompanying Mr Chui to Guangzhou will include: the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac; the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr Raimundo do Rosário; the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms O Lam; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Iao Man Leng; Acting Chief of Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Vong Sin Man; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Security, Ms Cheong Ioc Ieng; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr Ip Peng Kin; and the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Ms Cheong Chui Ling.

While the Chief Executive is away from Macao, the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan, will be the acting Chief Executive.
