IC announces candidates selected for the “2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”

The second review of the “2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums” has been completed recently and eight candidates were selected.

The second review of the “2017 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), was completed and a total of eight entrants were selected as eligible candidates of the Programme. IC will grant each eligible candidate a subsidy of up to MOP220,000 to cover expenses of song production, cover design, promotion and marketing, as well as production of the album.

The subsidy programme, launched by IC in 2014, seeks to cultivate more talented local music composers and producers thereby promoting the development of Macao’s music industry. By supporting the production and promotion of the original song albums, IC hopes to encourage musicians to produce and release more outstanding works and lay the groundwork for market development.

A total of 33 applications were received this year. Following the initial and second reviews, the professional adjudicating panel selected eight eligible candidates as follows (in arbitrary order): Ho Chon Ian, Lei Chon, João Nunes Pestana da Silva Caetano, Kuong Wing Hang, Leong Wai Hou, Chong Chon Heng, Filipe António da Silva Baptista and Pak Keong Sequeira.

The adjudicating panel was formed by a group of professionals, invited by IC, from Hong Kong and Taiwan’s music scene, including Hong Kong music supervisor, Schumann; manager of the Warner Music Hong Kong - A&R, Robin Chi; celebrated Hong Kong lyricist and singer, Abrahim Chan Wing Him; Hong Kong musician, Vicky Fung; and Founder of Taiwan Colours Music, 43 Chang. For enquiries about the results of the second review, please contact the staff member of IC, Mr. Ho through tel. no. (853) 8399 6282, during office hours.
