CEM, UM again co-organise CEM Electric Power Engineering Training Course

CEM and UM once again co-organise the CEM Electric Power Engineering Training Course

To help young engineers and supervisors increase their professional knowledge about power systems and prepare them for future challenges and opportunities, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) has partnered up with the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) to organise a 12-session CEM Electric Power Engineering Training Course. This is the fourth time since 2010 that the two institutions have co-organised the course. Taught by experts and professors of electrical engineering from Macao, Hong Kong and mainland China, the course has graduated more than 80 young engineers and supervisors from CEM over the years.

The graduation ceremony for participants of the course for the 2016--2017 period was held at UM on 11 January. Officiating guests at the ceremony included Rui Martins, vice rector (research) of UM; Benjamin Yue, principal advisor of the CEM Executive Committee; and Leung Shing On, director of the CCE.

Rui Martins expressed his appreciation to CEM, CCE, and all the trainers for their support and coordination, saying that UM will continue to support the development and continuous learning for CEM engineers to further enrich their professional knowledge and prepare them for challenges in their career.

Benjamin Yue indicated that UM professors and CEM’s Human Resources Department have been working closely together to continuously improve this programme so it can better meet the needs of young engineers. He also expressed his appreciation to UM’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and CCE for their continuous trust and support as well as congratulations to the newly graduated colleagues.
