UM professor appointed editor-in-chief of Asian Journal of Social Psychology

Prof Allan B I Bernardo has been appointed editor-in-chief of Asian Journal of Social Psychology

Allan B I Bernardo, a professor from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Asian Journal of Social Psychology, effective from 1 January 2018.

The Asian Journal of Social Psychology is a leading Asian psychology journal and aims to stimulate research and encourage academic exchanges for the advancement of social psychology in Asia. It publishes theoretical and empirical papers as well as major reviews of research studies on specific topics that cover all aspects of social processes, such as development, cognition, and personality, as well as topics in applied domains, such as health, counselling, organisation, education, politics and governance, media, and environmental issues. Now in its 21st year of publication, the journal places a great emphasis on the cultural aspects of social psychological processes and encourages multidisciplinary investigations involving psychological sciences, social sciences, neurosciences, and humanities. Jointly published by the Asian Association of Social Psychology and Beijing Normal University with Wiley Publishing, the journal is indexed in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) (Clarivate Analytics, with an impact factor of 1.00 in 2016) and in Scopus (Elsevier, with a CiteScore of 1.17 in 2016), which ranks the journal among the top 20 per cent of journals in the field of social sciences.

Prior to his appointment as the editor-in-chief of the journal, Prof Bernardo was also the editor of The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher from 2003 to 2012 (and currently its editor emeritus). He was also a special issues guest editor for the Journal of Pacific Rim Psychology from 2014 to 2018. Both journals are SSCI- and Scopus-indexed journals.He also served on the editorial boards of various journals, including International Journal of Psychology, Journal of Social Issues, Psychological Studies, and Revista Electrónica de Investigación Psicoeducativa.
