Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) jointly held the 78th Work Meeting of the Tourism Marketing Organization of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Macao today (2 February), to exchange news and trends, deepen regional cooperation and discuss their joint promotional projects to roll out in 2018. Within the current tourism collaborative framework, the three parties continue to strengthen their united efforts in destination promotion domestically and overseas by seizing the opportunities brought by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province Director General Zeng Yingru and Deputy Director General Mei Qijie, HKTB Executive Director Anthony Lau and Deputy Executive Director Becky Ip as well as other personages attended the Meeting. During the Meeting, they concluded the work progress since the 77th Work Meeting and discussed their collaborative projects on tourism promotion in 2018. The three parties reached a consensus to ride on the opportunities brought by the development of the Bay Area and reinforce their domestic and overseas promotions, including tourism presentation seminars for the Bay Area and strategic promotions of the three destinations to be held overseas. A travelogue will also be produced regarding the three destinations. The three parties will continue to set up joint booths in major travel fairs at the three destinations and organize familiarization trips, etc. Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province assumes the Rotating Chairmanship of the Tourism Marketing Organization of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao this year.
Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, HKTB and MGTO established the Tourism Marketing Organization of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in 1993 to actively push forward their work plans and enhance communication and cooperation, whereby to share their strengths and resources and brand themselves as one regional destination.
Capitalizing on the new possibilities opened up by the Bay Area development, the three destinations continue to deepen their tourism cooperation and put greater concerted efforts in destination marketing. The Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area was established last December, a brand-new organization for comprehensive tourism cooperation comprising tourism departments of the nine Guangdong cities – Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing – as well as the Tourism Commission of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Government Tourism Office. Later in the same month, MGTO attended the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Travel Trade Cooperation Summit” in Hong Kong, an event co-organized by Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong. During the Summit, tourism industry delegates from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area signed the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Travel Trade Cooperation Agreement”.
