Consumer Council and other departments started patrolling before Chinese New Year

Consumer Council and Economic Services started joint action

Consumer Council, Macao Customs, and Economic Services patrolled together at Tap Seac Chinese New Year Market earlier to distribute promotional leaflets and reminded vendors about the laws and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, price labeling, and the importance of selling legal and safe products to consumers.

As Chinese New Year and shopping high season are approaching, to safeguard the safety and rights of consumers, the Consumer Council and Macao Customs visited shops in different areas, covering industries such as clothing and apparel, medical and health, dried seafood, and telecommunication supplies, to promote intellectual property rights and how to label price properly.

Aside from visiting retail shops in different areas, the Consumer Council, Macao Customs, and Economic Services visited the Tap Seac New Year market to distribute information to vendors about local laws and regulations to avoid violation of intellectual property rights, and to pay attention to the safety and quality of products. Suggestions were given to retailers by the departments, and joint action expected to maintain order of the market and protect consumers.

The Council urged “Certified Shops” to provide quality service to consumers, explanation should be made to tourists if they are not familiar with local shopping habit to avoid disputes and to maintain the image of Macao as an international shopping city.
