CE’s New Year Message: Livelihood enhancement remains a priority

In his New Year Message, the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, wishes the Macao public a happy, fulfilling and prosperous Year of the Dog.

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, said today that knowledge of the satisfaction and contentment of Macao’s people was sufficient motivation for the Government regarding its ongoing effort to enhance their quality of life.

Delivering his New Year Message for the Year of the Dog, Mr Chui pledged the Government would prioritise all work associated with promoting improvements to local people’s quality of life, including making every effort at favourably transforming Macao’s living and working conditions, as well as its transport, tourism industry and entertainment sector.

The Government’s adherence to its policy vision of “putting people first” had been steadfast and would be sustained, added Mr Chui.

In his message, Mr Chui said that in order for him to gain clearer insight into the public’s suggestions and opinions regarding community facilities and civic affairs issues, he had met with members of community consultative councils. Following the meetings, he visited Seac Pai Van in Coloane, to see for himself the new community facilities there, and to listen to local people’s opinions regarding planning for the further development of that new neighbourhood.

Reviewing the achievements of the past year, Mr Chui said Macao had been able to maintain steady economic growth and fulfil local people’s aspirations regarding improvements to their livelihood; thanks to strong support from the Central Government and the advantages of the “One country, two systems” principle.

The Chief Executive took the opportunity to express his sincere gratitude to all those workers – in the private and public sectors – involved in keeping essential services operating during the holidays.

Welcoming the Year of the Dog, Mr Chui reminded the community of the value of sharing with family – and with people in need – the joy and warmth of this festive season.

On behalf of the Government, Mr Chui wished the Macao public a happy, fulfilling and prosperous Year of the Dog.
