Parade floats dazzle Northern District with blessings for prosperity in the Year of the Dog

The finale cultural show enjoys great popularity

Organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Dog” was held at the Northern District tonight (24 February) to celebrate the joy of Lunar New Year with all. A large number of residents and visitors flocked to enjoy the float parade along the route and the stage performances at Iao Hon Market Garden. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong, Vice President of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man, Vice President of Sports Bureau, Lam Lin Kio, Head of Department of Civic Affairs and Consultation of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Patsy Ko Pui San, and other guests officiated the kick-off ceremony for the Parade at Rua Norte do Patane at 8 p.m.

Presented by China National Tourism Administration, Macao Government Tourism Office, Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Suncity Group, Sands Resorts Macao, MGM, Wynn Macau, Limited, Tak Chun Group, UO Group, Sociedade de Jogos de Macao, S.A., Multinational (Holdings) Group and Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, the 15 splendid floats set off from Rua Norte do Patane to glide along Avenida do Conselheiro Borja, Estrada do Arco, Estrada da Areia Preta, Avenida de Venceslau de Morais, Rua Quatro do Bairro da Areia Preta, Avenida da Longevidade, Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon until Iao Hon Market Garden. Souvenirs were distributed along the route to boost the festive vibe and joy experienced by the crowds.

A finale cultural show was unfolded at Iao Hon Market Garden, featuring fascinating performances presented by Hong Kong artist Nancy Sit, local singers Sean Pang, Viviana Lo, Kane Ao Ieong, Elvis Lam and Roberto Madan as well as several dance troupes. Nancy Sit’s singing of the widely-known theme song of the soap opera “Virtues of Harmony” drove the audience’s emotions to a new peak. Emcees of the night, Kitty Yuen, Germano Guilherme, Laura Li and Stephen Chan also filled the event with energetic vibes.

The splendid floats are on display at Tap Seac Square from 10 p.m. tonight until 6 p.m. on 4 March. Local residents and visitors can enjoy the sight of illuminated floats from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (the exhibition will close at 6 p.m. on 4 March).

MGTO is dedicated to continuously promoting community tourism and developing a wider diversity of tourism products. Following the outdoor celebrations in various districts on the first and second day of Lunar New year and the first Parade on the third day, MGTO specially arranged the float parade at Macao’s Northern District as well, encouraging visitors to explore different neighborhoods and experience the charm of Macao.
