Richard Ye, chair professor of the University of Macau (UM) Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS), has been appointed by the publications committee of the American Physiological Society as the associate editor-in-chief of Physiological Reviews. This is the first time that a scholar from a university in the greater China region and Asia has been appointed associate editor-in-chief of the journal.
Founded in 1921, Physiological Reviewsis one of the most authoritative journals in the field of physiology, with an impact factor of 27.312 in 2016 and ranked No 1 in the field. It appeals to physiologists, neuroscientists, cell biologists, biophysicists, and clinicians with special interest in pathophysiology. Topics are covered in a broad and comprehensive manner. The appointment of Prof Ye shows the journal’s recognition of Asia’s progress in physiology research in recent years. It is also testament to the increasing influence of UM’s ICMS and State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine in the international academic circle.
