The award winning chef Julien Royer shared his culinary experiences and insights with students who are studying the Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts Management Programme at Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) on 26 March. The talk was arranged by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
During the talk, IFT’s Culinary Arts Management Bachelor Degree Programme students attended and enjoyed an up-close encounter with the internationally acclaimed chef Julien Royer.
The talk was held at IFT’s Demonstration Kitchen. During the sharing session, Chef Julien Royer shared his philosophy and motto on cooking, as well as his experience in culinary arts with the students. Besides, he also shared his personal journey as a chef and on the culinary scene around the world with the attendees. The attending students enjoyed a face-to-face interactive exchange on professional culinary knowledge with the renowned chef.
Chef Julien Royer has been named Chef of the Year twice in 2014 and 2017 respectively by the annual World Gourmet Summit's Awards of Excellence. His restaurant named “Odette” in Singapore took the ninth position in 2017 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list and was also awarded two Michelin Stars in 2016.
IFT has been striving to enhance the skills and knowledge of local tourism and hospitality professionals as well as to bring in new culinary elements and experiences to Macao. Through organising this event, it is believed that the culinary knowledge of local citizens and professionals will be enhanced.

IFT has been highly ranked by QS World University Rankings in the subject area ofHospitality and Leisure Management. In addition, IFT has received the Medal of Merit in Tourism from the Macao SAR Government, and won twice the Gold Award in ‘Education and Training’ from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
