Bank's System Upgrade does not Affect the Services of the FSS

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) said that the recent system upgrade of the Bank of China Macau Branch resulted in a change in the account numbers of its customers. This does not have any impact on individuals who use the services of the FSS through the said bank’s accounts. Members of the public can receive social security benefits through their old accounts as usual or can pay contributions by autopay, and they do not need to go to the FSS to update their bank account information even if their passbooks need to be replaced due to upgrade of bank account number.

After confirming with the Bank of China Macau Branch, the FSS was told that the bank account numbers had increased from 12 to 15 digits after the bank system upgrade (the online banking shows 17 digits because the first two digits are 00). However, the middle part of the new account number is still the same as the old one. Both old and new account numbers can be used. Therefore, individuals who use the services of the FSS through the accounts of the said bank can still use the related services with their old accounts as usual, without having to go to the FSS to update their bank account information.

In addition, the old-age pension and disability pension of the FSS are paid on a quarterly basis, and the related benefits for the period from April to June will be deposited into the bank accounts designated by beneficiaries on the 13th day of this month (Friday).
