The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi in a unique concert to be held at the Grand Auditorium on June 10. Appearing with his band, the world-renowned musician will be performing at the piano an anthology of his best compositions.

Praised by British newspaper Daily Telegraph as“a pianist withrock god tendencies”, Ludovico Einaudi is a chart-topping champion and master of soundtracks who has morphed into a true showman following nearly 20 years behind the scenes, composing for ballet, theatre and video installations. The fluidity and flexibility of Einaudi’s compositions paved the way to a diversity of worlds, not only on records, but also consistently in sold out concerts at the most prestigious international performance halls. Over the last decade the pianist smoothly conquered the planet through the internet where he became one of the most-streamed classical musicians, beating legends like Mozart on the digital music platform Spotify.

Admired by a wide spectrum of other artists, from Iggy Pop and Ricky Gervais to pianist Lang Lang, his musical alchemy made him one of the best-known composers today. Einaudi’s refined music has called the attention of the cinematic world as it’s been included in the soundtracks for films like Aronofsky’s Black Swan, French box office hit The Intouchables or Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar. The Italian master’s versatility was also heard on the Japanese thriller The Third Murder and on a string of high profile commercials, from the NBA and Nissan adverts to BBC’s promotional spots. Back in 2016, Einaudi’s popularity soared when he played Elegy for the Arctic on a floating platform for a Greenpeace awareness video seen millions of times.

For those who want to find more about this composer-pianist, there will be a free admission pre-show talk. Presented in Cantonese, this session takes place at CCM’s Conference Room one hour prior to the concert. The speaker will share insightful views on Einaudi’s background and repertoire with special focus on modern and fusion music.

CCM is presenting “Ludovico Einaudi” in concert on June 10, 2018 (Sunday). Tickets will be available from April 10, 2018 at CCM’s box office and Macao Ticketing Network outlets at various prices and discounts.
