Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” will be held from 13 to 15 April and from 20 to 22 April for two consecutive weekends (Friday to Sunday), at Tap Siac Square. The opening ceremony will be held on 13 April, at 6pm. This year is the 10th anniversary of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, featuring a diversity of cultural and creative activities including 220 local and foreign cultural and creative booths, 39 creative handicraft workshops, over 50 stage performances and interactive installations. All are welcome to participate and select their favourite cultural and creative products.
The “Tap Siac Craft Market” will be open from 5pm to 10pm on Fridays and from 3pm to 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a total of 220 booths from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore and Korea. Various distinctive cultural and creative products, such as accessories, fashion design, drawings, paintings, home decorations, creative potted plants, natural handmade products and leather goods, will be showcased to the general public. 39 creative handicraft workshops will be conducted by booth owners from different regions to teach residents creative handicraft skills, and in addition to that, there will be over 50 stage performances presenting local and foreign original musical works.
Inaugurated in 2008, the “Tap Siac Craft Market” has served as a platform for local and foreign cultural and creative practitioners to display and sell their products. It has gradually developed into a local brand of cultural and creative market. To allow local citizens to participate in the 10th anniversary celebration of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, IC has previously launched the “10th Anniversary Programme of the Tap Siac Craft Market”, calling for proposals of “interactive installations”, “stage performances” and “creative handicraft workshops”, which was well received by the general public. An award ceremony for the “interactive installation” proposals will be held during the “Tap Siac Craft Market”.
The 39 creative handicraft workshops are open for registration through IC’s “Activity Registration System” on IC’s website (www.icm.gov.mo/eform/event). Online registration is available until Wednesday, 11 April, at 5:45pm. On-site registration and payment to all workshops start 30 minutes before the workshop begins, subject to availability. Registered applicants who arrive 10 minutes after the workshop starts will be disqualified and replaced by the on-site applicants in the waiting list.
