The ongoing 2018 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2018MIECF) is not only an international green platform enabling those in the environmental protection industry to exchange information and search for business opportunities, but also has a role as a public educational resource. The 2018MIECF event promotes community participation via “Green Public Day” on its final day (14 April) when the public can visit the “Green Showcase” exhibition floor, thus enhancing their awareness of environmental protection. All are welcome.
Many workshops featuring environmental protection topics will take place at the venue. With the help of each workshop instructor, visitors can learn to make fresh use of materials commonly discarded in daily life. In doing so, they can create environmentally-friendly furnishings or practical gadgets. “Green Public Day” also features lucky draw games. Attendees have the opportunity to win a special edition e-wallet card with a stored value of MOP50, designed by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Macao (DSPA).
On site, there are family games, a waste reduction information exhibition, and display areas for recycled products. The DSPA mascot will be there to pose for photographs with visitors.
In addition, 2018MIECF is – as in previous editions – arranging “green” guided tours for Macao students (including those at university, middle school or elementary school), introducing the concept of MIECF, and explaining the different exhibition areas on the exhibition floor, and their characteristics. Each tour allows visiting students to have a deeper understanding of the activities at MIECF, raising their awareness of environmental protection issues.
There will also be a service booth for Macao’s “Fun Bonus Point Scheme”. Upon application for new membership of the scheme, visitors can get a reward of 50 bonus points. Existing members can also register at the booth and get 50 bonus points as a reward (that offer is for one reward only, and available only to Macao ID holders).
In addition to the “Green Public Day” activities, the MIECF event will continue on Saturday to have the “Green Showcase” exhibition open and “Green Matching” services, further assisting exhibitors in establishing contacts and seeking business opportunities.
For the convenience of the public visiting the venue, and in order to promote “green transport”, the host and co-organisers have made available for the “Green Public Day” four free shuttle bus lines to the 2018MIECF venue at the Venetian Macao. The pickup points are, respectively: Avenida Doutor Mário Soares (taxi area); Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida (opposite the Pak Wai car park); Iao Hon Market (opposite the Iao Hon Park, near the iSQUARE Computer Plaza); and Avenida de Guimarães (opposite the Central Park and the Nova Park Building, Taipa). The shuttle buses run every 45 minutes from 9:00am or 9:30am (depending on district served) until 6:45pm.
In addition, for those travelling by car, limited free parking is available at Hall D of the venue, on a first-come-first-served basis. (Motorists must produce a 2018MIECF entry ticket stamped at the “Green Public Day” reception in order to enjoy free parking.)
