Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 13 to 15 April and from 20 to 22 April for two consecutive weekends (Friday to Sunday), at Tap Siac Square. This year is the 10th anniversary of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, featuring a diversity of cultural and creative activities including 220 local and foreign cultural and creative booths, 39 creative handicraft workshops, over 50 stage music performances, and interactive installations. All are welcome to participate and select their favourite products.

The opening ceremony of the 10th anniversary celebration of the “Tap Siac Craft Market” was held on 13 April, at 6pm, at Tap Siac Square and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Vice President of the Committee of Cultural Industries, Hsu Hsiu Chu; the member of the Administration Committee of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Ma Kam Keong; the member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Industries Fund, Chu Miu Lai; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ieong Chi Kin; the Supervisor of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Wong Mei Ling; the Founder of CAMPOBAG in Taiwan, Chen Jing Ting; the Project Manager of The Life Guangzhou, Sarah Nie; and the representative of Artroad in Korea, Duri Lee.

To allow local citizens to participate in the 10th anniversary celebration of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, IC has previously launched the “10th Anniversary Programme of the Tap Siac Craft Market”, calling for proposals of the “interactive installations”, “stage performances” and “creative handicraft workshops”, and it was well received by the general public. An award ceremony for the “interactive installation” proposals was held during the opening ceremony of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”. The theme for “interactive installations” is “Happiness”. No one was awarded the first prize, while Xu Wei Xiong won the second prize with his work HAPPY 10 and was awarded a cash prize of MOP5,000, and Post-1980s (group) won the third prize with their work Giant Game Console and was awarded a cash prize of MOP3,000.

The “Tap Siac Craft Market” is open from 5pm to 10pm on Friday and from 3pm to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday, featuring a total of 220 booths from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore and Korea, etc. Various distinctive cultural and creative products, such as accessories, fashion designs, drawings, paintings, home decorations, creative potted plants, natural handmade products and leather goods, are showcased to the general public. 39 creative handicraft workshops will be conducted by booth owners from different regions to teach residents creative handicraft skills, and in addition to that, there will be over 50 stage music performances presenting local and foreign original musical works.

Inaugurated in 2008, the “Tap Siac Craft Market” has been served as a platform for local and foreign cultural and creative practitioners to display and sell their products. It has gradually developed into a local brand of cultural and creative market. The 39 creative handicraft workshops opened for registration through the “Activity Registration System” on IC’s website earlier. On-site registration and payment to all workshops start 30 minutes before the workshop begins, subject to availability. Registered applicants who arrive later than 10 minutes after the workshop starts will be disqualified and replaced by the on-site applicants in the waiting list.
