The Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) hosted “Creativity in Spring II — an exhibition of student works” at the Team Building of IFT from 30 April to 31 July 2018. The general public are invited to come and appreciate the achievements of the students in the intermediate and advanced level of Graphic Design Programme, which was launched in collaboration with IFT and ESCOLA LUSO-CHINESA TÉCNICO PROFISSIONAL.
Exhibits consisted of the students’ projects of courses including graphic design theory, the study of colours, painting, posters design, computer-assisted drawings, photography and graduation projects, etc. Some of the exhibits went beyond the boundary of graphic design, and used different approaches of framing and priming.
Since 2009, the Institute has co-operated with ESCOLA LUSO-CHINESA TÉCNICO PROFISSIONAL to launch the Graphic Design Programme, to nurture talents in design and cultural creativity industry, and to actively promote education and training in arts. The graphic design programme has come to its 9th year of launching and has been cultivating talents with professional graphic design knowledge and techniques for the industry. The programme aims to integrate theory with practice, allowing student to effectively absorb and apply the knowledge on graphic design practices for laying a solid foundation for their profession. The course comprises a comprehensive yet specialised curriculum such as basic design principles, colours, drawing and illustration, arts history. photography, advertising design, printing and output, and CAD (Computer-assisted Drawing).
IFT has been dedicated to promoting the development of Macao’s cultural and creative industries. Apart from constantly providing a variety of cultural and creative courses, IFT has also pursued cooperation with local artists and designers to organise exhibitions in recent years, in an effort to promote local cultural and creative industries, and to provide a platform for local artists and designers to demonstrate their art pieces. The current exhibition venues at IFT includes Team Building at Mong-Há Campus and IFT Café at the “Anim’Arte NAM VAN”.
IFT has continuously explored and provided courses which are up-to-date, interesting and practical for the community. Currently, IFT’s Tourism and Hotel School is working with 20 international organisations, providing over 80 international qualification courses to the public and industry professionals. Every year, the School provides hundreds of vocational and professional courses to a total of around 20,000 participants.
